So in the last month I kinda went through a crafting crisis. The main craft show I apply for turned me down :( I thought to myself HOW will I have motivation to do anything if this one craft show doesn't think my work is any good....and then I thought...I don't need this craft show to determine how I feel about my crafting. I know I am much better than alot of those other people that got accepted. So I decided to show the world and myself that I can still sell crafts without doing this craft show. I decided to stock up my etsy store and come up with a couple more designs to list on there. So over the last few weeks I have been sewing like crazy when I'm not work two jobs haha. Life Update!

Wow! has it really been since Nov. since I have wrote on here! I can't believe it! So new things in my life would be

a.) Boyfriend moved in
b.) new tattoo
c.) craft show season starting
d.) started a 2nd job AND a 3rd job!

So since thanksgiving I've just been just mainly working my butt off! I celebrating Christmas well technically had 4 Christmas's. Me and Cale (bf) celebrated our 1 year anniversary in Jan. This month (march) he moved in with me which made the most financial sense at this point, since he was pretty much staying with me anyways. This will help us save and possible start looking for a house.

I've also expanded my sewing machine tattoo with a half sleeve of sewing items...which I LOVE! It turned out fabulous and I am very excited about it! I also have been crafting away with plenty of new designs and ideas and have entered my first craft show of the season for April. I will start posting new pictures of those once I get them all listed on etsy!

I also started doing respite for a 7 year old girl named Anna. She is the best girl ever and I looove hanging out with her, so its not really "work". I also started working at a place called drive line to help do some merchandising with a friend a couple times a month. Anyways thats about for me right now so I will upload some pictures to keep you all updated!! :)

So ya...kinda funny actually that after I get a huge tattoo of a vintage sewing machine I loose my sewing mojo. I actually felt guilty looking at it day after day and put it away in my closet! so sad. But finally yesterday had a moment where I felt motivated and ready to go. I started working on a T-shirt quilt for a friend that had ordered it over the summer and I never got around to it. But since I am planning a trip (hopefully) next month I could use the extra cash! Once I started going on that I realized that I have a huge 2 day craft show coming up and I better get motivated! So I finished up 2 purses that have been sitting around and then got to work on about 25 reversable headbands and 20 doggie bananas! I still have 3 more purses to sew and I really need to finish up that quilt (after I buy more interfacing). So it looks like this is weekend will be a crafty one indeed! I feel so much better when I am creating new projects! Anyone else ever lost there mojo for a while?

I've really been wanting a tattoo for years...never knowing what to quite get. One day it came to me that I should get a sewing machine...so I found an amazing tattoo artist and starting discussing my tattoo. I knew it would be my first piece and I thought that if I got a tattoo I wanted to go all out and get a large piece. Yes it is addicting and I do plan to do a half sleeve of all sewing related things! It took 5 hours and man was it painful! haha!

Lake Panorama

So my family rented a glorious cabin off lake panorama which is only 45 minutes from the great ole city of Des Moines, Iowa which was nice because not only did I get to go on vacation but not have to drive far at all. My sister and her husband also came up for one night to get away but left early because my sister has just started her second year of vet school and is rather stressed out. Here is a glimpse of the cabin. The cabins on this lake were very over the top. Most of them as just summer homes for most people, which makes me wonder what their everyday homes looked like! wow.

Not really what you call "rustic" but it was so nice to have a real bed to sleep in and air conditioning when you got hot out on the lake. There were some killer stairs to get down to the docks and boat when you wanted to do a little swimming but the workout came welcomed after all the food I ate! We referred the stairs as the "gauntlet"! haha.

Other wise we just swam, boated, and enjoyed the woodsy outdoor life for the trip! Mcgruff really enjoyed his time outdoors!! He also got to swim in a lake for the first time ever. He was not too happy with me after that haha.

So this quilt literally has been the death of me...the binding was orginally supposed to be red but after seam ripping it off the quilt twice i gave up on it and when in another direction. After throwing the quilt in a tub out of frustration I pulled it out about a month later and made myself finish it...still not a fan of how it turned out but YAY ITS DONE! lol

I feel like I have a thousand quilt projects started and haven't got any finished lately! I started my circle applique quilt like forever ago and just got the basting done on it! I then started my black and white coin stack quilt which I only have 2 rows to finish! ALSO, I have been collecting vintage fabric pieces from various auctions and garage sales around to do my mini vintage quilt. These are only a few of my quilt projects started but they are the ones I've been playing around with recently! :) So enjoy!

Here is my first applique quilt, dont look too close, there are lots of mistakes ;)

This black and white quilt I am loving so far, I am debating on topping it off with some red binding and quilting...what do you think?

Here are my vintage fabrics! I am really liking all these fabrics. I separated them out by colors and am going to do something with that. They are 2'' squares, and I think Im going to do a mini quilt with this one. I might give a way the left overs to a reader, so be on the look out! :)

Since Spring is sprung and the weather is nice I have been so much more creative and inspired by all sorts of things! My new roomie is just as big of fabricaholic as I am and now I have a partner in crime to go fabric shopping with! I wanted to share a few of the amazing things I have picked up over the last week!

I cant wait to start this quilt! It just calls "Summers Here!" Not sure what pattern to do with it but I am sure I will come up with something great! :)

These pieces I picked up at a wonderful quilt shop called "the quilt block" and I had to buy them! I just love Amy Butler!! Still debating on if I will just hoard these forever or find a wonderful pattern to use! :)

ahhh yes, Joel Dewberry. I fell in love with this collection and vowed to get them regardless of my fabric budget! haha. I will def be working with these soon!!!!

Fresh Start!

Its been a while since my last post but so much as gone down! Ok to start...I MOVED! I am super excited about this! After my recent breakup I had to move back in with the pops...even though hes easy to live with, you still lose a part of your independence when you have to move back in with your parents. Its also sorta hard to get back on your feet when you have to start all over again. So it took me a few months...6 months to be exact too finally get out of my funk and start living again. I decided to pick an area that had the most opportunities in Iowa...so I chose Des Moines. I started applying for jobs out there had about 10 interviews (yes I was the interview queen). Finally had two job offers! YAY! Two of my closest friends happened to be moving to Des Moines as well so we started looking for three bedroom places and found the CUTEST townhouse with LOTS of room! I love it here! I landed a job as Recreational Therapist for a great organization in Des Moines (technically johnston) http://childserve.org/therapeutic-rec (check out the link for more info). Also happened to meet an amazing guy (Cale). I have some great friends out here too that have kept me busy with crafting and working out again! :) Just when I thought things couldn't of gotten any worse my life changed for the better and is now looking up!!!

Has it really been 4 months since I posted? whoa. ha. This quilt was commissioned by a friend who has waited diligently for this. Since Aug. I have had to deal with moving twice, a terrible breakup, and losing my job! I kinda lost touch with quilting, but quickly remembered how therapeutic it is for me. I went to this awesome little shop in Chicago called "tail's in the city" if you are a doggie lover like me I suggest you try to make it there if your in the big windy city! Its soooo totally worth it! :) Mcgruff loves to dress up too. He can put is head and legs in the shirt on his own because he loves it so much...after he is dressed he prances around the houses like hes king! lol He always likes to go bye bye when hes dressed up also because he can show off and get all the treats and attention! ha! :) hes my baby!

My chicago/bachelorette trip!

This past weekend I planned a girls weekend to chicago that turned into my bachelorette party also...so two of my friend flew in from DC, one came from Wisconsin and 1 from Iowa. We met up at the Marriott in Chicago...friday we ordered in the famous chicago pizza and just had ourselves a few drinks ;) lol...saturday was all day downtown where we sorta ended up splitting into two groups cuz we wanted to do some different things. Overall it was a splendid weekend and we all had a blast! :) Here are a few of my favorite pictures!!

we got some new prints in at our store today....well not exactly new but since we buy fabric in bulk we get extra discounts so sometimes we get TONS of boxes and have to store it upstairs in boxes until we have room, anyways I pulled some of it down today to put online and found some great prints! A total of 9 yards...I used to just get one yard of each print I liked, but I found I always needed more so if I like a print I totally get 2 or more yards of it...you never know what you can use it for! haha...so heres what I found! :) enjoy!

So many Sewing Projects!

I've been crazy busy with all my sewing projects lately so I thought I would share what I have been buying/sewing! I couldnt believe all my collections once I got them all out and stacked them up! lol I just finished a park slope and mermaid quilt which I haven't taken pictures of yet but here are my collections and projects in the works! :) enjoy!

The next few pictures are of my black and white quilt, the red is for the binding...which I thought would really make the quilt "pop"! I'm doing the coin stack quilt pattern for this one. The other two are some other projects that I have cut and ready to go just haven't had the time to finish them! lol

Updates on weight loss and quilting

This week has been pretty stressful for me...the house deal was almost over and we were trying to get his credit score up those few points. Also me and Brock were at each others throats taking out our stress's on each other. We were irritated with each other badly...we kind of had a major blow up yesterday as it all came to a head. Getting a house is a major ordeal. The real estate agent said that no one else is interested in the house so if his credit score goes up in a week or two we still might be able to get it...not sure. Its all in the hands of the credit gods apparently.

As for eating and exercise. I did good with food all week. I only ate small portions and I did eat what I wanted but I did snack all night long after dinner. And now that I have a daily routine down of eating it doesn't bother me much at all. I did do the elliptical on monday and tuesday went for a long power walk with mcgruff. Wed, and thurs....i didnt really exercise....So I am going to make up for it in the next three days...it is alot easier for me to find time to exercise on the weekends. I just have more time. Overall I did good I lost a total of 2.9 pounds and that brings my total to....21.6

I plan on re-doing my etsy store also only to focus solely on quilts on my whoopdedoo5 site. I will list all my grandma sweatshirts on another etsy site that will be redone in a grandma style lol....Anyways, I have to re-do pictures and sizes and all that stuff this weekend. It is my weekend project. I also finished my park slope quilt called short stacks last night and I will start on either my teal notions quilt or my noveau quilt. Not sure...they are both cut and waiting in my project boxes for me. I have like a thousand other quilts lined up to do also. Hopefully I can get some sales out of them. :)

The 9th Week!

This week totally flew by and now its Monday already! geepers! I kept really busy this week with getting a new laptop to having a home inspection, baby shower, summer cleaning, ect... I even had a little time this weekend to do a little sewing on my park slope quilt...I just love those fabrics :)

As far as my dieting goes...I had a pretty successful week, I did really good during the work week keeping busy and doing all my exercise, but the weekend was another story. I had a bad weekend. BUT I did manage to lose 1.7 pounds. Which brings my total up to 18.7 :) I figure another 20 pounds and I will weigh what I did when I met my fiance! lol

Also! on top of being being busy this week we had a few issues yesterday...I went to cook some lunch and realized my stove wasn't working so ya...we have to get a stove repairman? Not sure about that one... hours after the stove went out...our whole apartment went dead...all electricity...right when I was in the middle of microwaving dinner lol! grrr...it stayed off for almost 2 hours! ugh. What a day! I literally have nothing to cook right now. I feel naked without my stove working :S Hopefully it wont be costing alot of money since its a newer stove. ha.

2 Months!

Well its been two months now since I started my new healthy lifestyle! So far so good, I have had many set backs but also have had many good weeks! I did gain .7 pounds this week so I have only lost a total of 17 pounds...I think thats pretty good for two months. I am focusing on losing slowly so I think any more would be hard to do. I work out about 6 days a week mostly walking evenings and doing the elliptical also. Well I plan on trying to keep losing weight for many months to come. Stay tuned for week by week updates!

Other news--i posted that we recently put a bid on a house...we are still waiting for finacing to come through...who would of thought that would be such a big deal? I have great credit but high debt to income ratio bc of student loans sooo that sucks. Brock has low credit but NO debt...so we are waiting for his credit rating to come up after we paid off some old bills of his. It said it can take up to 30 days but we are hoping it goes up by our bid allowance of 20 days...so freaking stressful! ugh. Poop! Well I guess I will keep you updated! :)

I also got a laptop today! Its super cute and super pink! Love it! I love my new toy! hehe...which means I will be blogging more! My friend calee aka chimes is going to start selling some of my quilts when she does her craft fairs! :) Super nice of her! Maybe I can make some money for my fabric habit! haha!

Finally I am done with all my families xmas presents! I will never again make all my friends/family quilts again for xmas because it is soooooo time consuming...I might make little projects here and there but man o man its alot all at once! I am done! Now what to do with all my quilting fabric lines! lol :) I love fabric!

The first two are fleece/cotton throws which make awesome snuggly blankets! The final two are from the latest quilt block swap!

My dad is a big outdoorsy type so I did a deer throw with maple leave quilting...I know he will love it!

This one is for my sister who is a horse nut! She also loves ivy so I did a ivy quilting design on it! :)

This surf and sand line is one of my favorites! This is for my step-dad who was a navy man, and I already did a navy quilt for him so I figured this is manly enough...it has a sailboat quilting design...

This final one is for my mom, she loves paisleys and I love this fabric so I thought she might like this!

week 7!

I figured this week would be horrible...I totally went to my dads for the weekend and didn't watch what I was eating all weekend. I met a friend on sat. and we walked for about 2 hrs. I didn't realize we walked over 5 miles! :) That was awesome! Especially since we walked up and down hills! I am super sore today from it still! Overall I lost a total of 3.7 pounds this week and didn't gain anything when I weighed in this morning! That rocks! This is a total of 17.7 pounds so far! :) yippie skippy! I am on a roll!

on another note, me and my fiance might be buying a house, we put in a bid and won the bid...it was kinda unexpected find so we did it backwards and now have to do financing after the bid, so we have like 16 days now to finalize that, so bascially its a waiting game to find out if we get the financing! and If we do we get a house! its so awesome! :) take a peek...and wish us luck!!!!!!!!!

A very depressing week 6!

So I starting training for my 5k in Oct. this week....I added in my walk/jog routine and also pilates, I then cranked up my elliptical with higher resistance levels. For my first week of training it went pretty well...no shin splints have come which is freakin awesome! This week I will be up to jogging a mile. Well not all at once that is. I do intervals of 10 min walk/2 min jog/10 walk/3 jog/10 walk/4 jog. Its kinda scary to run in public...I try to pick good times with not alot of people around. Anyways I had a 2.4 pound gain this week...so sad. I would like to think it was a mixture of gaining muscle and it being "that time of the month" but who really knows? I don't want to make excuses. All I know is that after all that work and seeing a gain is very sucky. Kinda makes me want to give in completely. BUT I plan on losing 5 pounds this week to make up for it. That means I must be very good! I am going away for the weekend too so I really have to do good! I can do it!

Another Weight Loss Week! #5

Hey all! Thanks for all your continued support so far in my weight loss attempts! This marks the end of week 5 for me! My final weigh in for this week was 4.2!! I couldn't believe it! Thats alot! I even ate pizza hut AND dairy queen! I guess working out really does the trick eh? I worked out 6 days this week doing 30 min elliptical and power walking for 45-60 min. My trick is to have some sugar free hot cocoa at night time to curb those hungry pains. I do have big ole breakfast's on the weekends because thats my favorite meals! :) A grand total of 16.3 pounds!

The crazy new is that I am going to be training for a 5k...it isn't huge but its alot for me...my friend calee is motivating me to do this...she is making up a training program and preparing me the right way! wish me luck!!!

Mermaid Log Cabin Progress

I've finished a couple more blocks on my mermaid quilt and I am really loving this quilt! I am going to do white sashing in between blocks. So it will be a decent size. Some of the blocks are slightly more scrappy then others, I am trying to make each one as diff. as I can. The white with break up the scrappyness of it all and make it more pleasing to the eye :)

Week 4-- ONE MONTH!

This week was my week four! I have completed one month so far of dieting and exercising! So far so good...I have had some major fall backs but I always seem to get back on track the next day. This week I didn't make the goal I had set of 3 pounds but I did lose 2! Which means This month I lost of total of 12.1 pounds! Thats pretty good to me! 37.9 to go! I am still drinking alot of water and staying away from juice/soda. I have had a few sweets here and there but nothing too much. I've managed to go out to eat a couple time also! Next week I have a goal of 2 pounds. I am losing semi-slowly because I know it will stay off for a longer time period. Wish me luck! :)

Week 3!!

Ok! I am on to week three! Let me tell you that this week and last week have been hell! It is sooo hard to lose weight but sooo easy to put it on! Monday and Tuesday I did the elliptical for 37 min and rotated intervals of 7/3...Wed, Thurs, Fri, and Sat...I got out and walked with my pooch. I tried to power walk for at least 45 minutes outside just to enjoy the weather. Its supposed to rain outside for the next few days so I know I will most likely be inside working out. I had a target weightloss of 3 pounds for this week and I weighed in at a loss of 3.3 pounds! which makes a total of 10.1 pounds down! 39.9 pounds to get to my goal! :) I am super happy at that because I not only ordered out pizza this week I also cheated with a donut AND onion rings! whoops :S but at least I had no soda and tried to do something every day this week! :) I am going to start having a target loss each week, so I think I will do 3 pounds again..that worked pretty good for me! :)

Week 2!!

This is my second week of my current battle against the fat! :) I had NO diet soda! I worked out on the elliptical 5x this week for about 30 minutes each time. My wii-fit was limited though, I was just really pooped all week. I lost 1.1 pounds this week, which I was disappointed in at first, but then I realized I didn't gain, so thats a positive! Friday my fiance took me out to dinner and a movie, which I'm sure was sooo bad for me, but hey I gotta go out once and a while. So thats a total of 6.8 pounds so far, which means I have 43.2 pounds to go! :) I need to lose at least 2 pounds per week to hit my target goal date. So I have set a target weight loss for this week of 3 pounds. Wish me luck! :)

My favorite Quilt Project Entry!

So I know I have posted about this bad boy before but this is my all-time favorite! After being new to quilting a little over a year ago I knew nothing about how much work quilting can be with certain patterns. I totally saw a sample postage stamp block and thought "hey, I can do this" so I started collecting fabrics from EVERYONE...I swapped and swapped on craftster and cut and cut most all weekends. After about 9-10 months of this I finally had enough fabric pieces to start sewing...I did my first block and it was horrible...I didn't pin correctly ect...so I took a pinning lesson from my mother in law to be :) This is technically my second block...

Then I started chain sewing blocks like crazy...hours each night and weekend dedicated this is baby! I finally finished and have never been so proud of a quilt! All the work and sweat into this quilt. I love to just look at it in my living room and find new fabrics that I never seen before! There are so many! :) So enjoy my labor of love!

EDIT: Due to many questions about the size of the blocks...the blocks are each 12'' finished and there were 16 blocks each had 144 squares...The squares were each 1'' :)

Mermaid Log Cabin

So I've had this fabric in my stash for a while now and having most of my quilt projects wrapping up I wanted to start with something fresh and different so I decided to whip out these baby's and start sewing! Here is my first block but I have three done so far I think I will make 15-30 depending on sashing..I think I might put a white sashing in between the blocks! Anyways I really love these fabrics!

Week 1!

Monday marked the end of my first week starting back on my exercise routine! I did 5 days of cardio on the elliptical for about 30 min with resistance level set at 4/12 (that will slowly increase). I did every other day of about 30 min or more on my wii-fit doing some step aerobics, free run, boxing, hula hoop and a few strength training moves. I cut back on my eating slightly, just mainly watching portion control and trying not to have as much sweets as usual. I did have some candy on Easter but not a whole lot. I had 2 diet sodas the whole week and didn't buy any more when I went grocery shopping Saturday. I have been craving water more and more! I have noticed my skin looking better and feeling healthy also! I forgot how good it feels to workout! Overall the wii-fit says I was down 5.7 pounds! I decided to have my overall goal be 50 pounds by Oct. I would really like to do another 20 pounds after that just because the experts say thats the weight I need to be...but I will do the 50 first! :)

This next one is the paisley sampler...I fell in love with this paisley print at work and so I matched a whole quilt to it! :)

Getting Back Into Routine!

For those who dont know I used to be a workoutaholic! I used to get up early each morning and go work my butt off at the gym! What happened you ask? who knows, life gets busy and working out isn't a priority. So I plan to change that! In addition to tanning, new hair color ect...I decided to start working out! with my friends to give me motivation I have successfully worked out several times this week :) I do have an elliptical on my porch which has come in very handy. I try to do it like 30 min at a high resistance level...I hope do it like 3-4 times a week! My fiance (Brock) also got me a wii fit last week and I have been loving that too! It is sooo much fun! Mcgruff has been a big help too, after I do the elliptical or even on my nights off I am going to be walking him more :) He went tonight and had a blast sniffing around! I think my body is in some major shock this week to, I am completely sore! Its actually a good feeling though. So if any of you have any health tips or workout tips I would love to hear them! I need all the motivation I can get! I know my friend Calee has been pretty awesome at helping and she is also sending me her back issues of Self Magazine. My friend Magan has been pretty helpful too as she is trying to lose weight and we can help each other out! Thanks for reading!!

New Hair Color!

I think I am having a mid-twenty life crisis ;) lol I decided to start tanning, try a new hair color, get a pedicure and wax...I know kinda to much information but anywho...I wanted to show my new hair color...nothing too bold I know but I like it :) Also parden my red neck/face I just got done tanning and I am a little burnt :S

Project Updates!

I have done alot of quilting over the past weeks! Tonight I cut out my sisters quilt made up of blues/greens...I am doing 2.5 inch strips and randomly placing them together. I think it will look quite cool when I finish it. I pulled all the blues out of my stash for her and its a fast easy project to whip up for her, I just need more motivation! Here is a few pictures of the process...the first one is all my strips cut and in there correct piles. The second picture is two 5 piece blocks sewn...thats all I got finished tonight :)

As far as my other projects are going...I had a long list a couple of blogs ago but have dwindled that list down to this:

-Moose Wall Hanging for dad (haven't started)
-In the pink Quilt (Haven't started)
-American Sampler for mom in law (7 blocks to go)

Most of the projects that I have finished are Christmas presents...I had a goal to craft everyone's xmas presents for this next xmas and so far so good! I think I may be done ahead of schedule and i can't believe it! I guess its just another excuse to buy more fabric right? :)

I do more of a 1/2 yard cut or more if I like it alot. Otherwise I do a fat quarter...

I do buy on impulse alot but I do go looking for stuff I need too!

I don't pre-wash, I 've never had a problem with it running, and i like the shrinking look...:)

I do iron alot, I live for my iron! lol

I try to keep the collection groupings together but they are sorted in tubs by colors

Do you have any special folding techniques?

Not really, I try to fold like fat quarters mostly.

How do you store your fabric?

plastic bins that are sealed so nothing can get in...or get out! lol

What tips do you have for building up a well-rounded stash?

I have a problem with this, I have alot of printed fabric but not much solids, I need to work on that part of it!

Cookies and Kitty's

Last night I was badly craving some peanut butter...so after searching online for recipes I can across this awesome cookie recipe...I didn't know if it would turn out exactly because it sounded a bit odd. But they were soooo yummy...if you do make them just remember to have milk handy!

Recipe:

INGREDIENTS

1 cup peanut butter
1 cup white sugar
1 egg

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine ingredients and drop by teaspoonfuls on cookie sheet. Bake for 8 minutes. Let cool. Recipe doesn't make very many, so you could double recipe as you desire.

Now for the kitty part...I wanted to show off the kitty's new bed...she does sleep in it, but I caught her sleeping on our bed instead ha. The bed is on top of mcgruff's toy box, her favorite place to sleep! lol

Spring Projects In Full Swing...

Even though it doesn't quite feel like spring out there today I have spring fever! In fact we are even supposed to get snow! I can't believe it! After my recent trip to visit me sister she has enlisted me to make her a throw for her couch. Her couch is a seafoam green color and most of her house as you can see in my earlier posts are neutrals, blues, greens ect. While visiting the fon's and porter quilt shop we can across this quilt pattern which was similar to a log cabin type. I though I can pick out some blues/greens from my stash and do a similar pattern...here is the fabrics so far...

The other quilt I am going to be starting I got at the quilting connection in Ames, Ia. I'm using a mavrick star block that looks pretty awesome and background color will be a white kona cotton. I think this will make the stars really jump out at you. Here are the fabrics for this quilt...

Pom Puppies!

During the last week I visited my sister! She is in school as a vet and as a part time job she works for a lady who raises pom pups. They are very sweet doggies and the lady takes very good care of them all at her home. She is very much into showing pom's and has a great breeding stock! lol. Anyways I was able to go with my sister to work one morning and help take care of all the cute puppies! I took tons of pics of them all and even did a video. I wanted to share with you some of my pics with the puppies!

This one was my favorite! :) I called him my little burrito! :) lol I also didn't shower so I look dirty and tired! lol.

Quilting Progress & New Fabrics!

I am posting my progress on my hello betty log cabin quilt! Just a little more on each one! I layed it out to check a grasp on how the size is coming about. I am really liking this one, I didn't think I would like it at first but its not too bad! :)

New Camera = New Pictures!!

Today I received my new super awesome camera! I love it! I've been running around the apt taking pictures of everything I could! lol Just because I haven't had a camera in such a long time! grrr. Anyways, Heres a shot of the camera box because you must see what it looks like right?

Well I thought I would also show you my sweet pillows I made for my couch too! I whipped these babies up this weekend! They are from the bistro fabric line! they are super comfy!

My postage stamp quilt

I know alot of you have seen this on craftster but I wanted to put it here on my blog as well :) I am just so proud of this baby! Anyways I saw a small postage stamp quilt online at one point and thought to myself "how hard can this be?"...soooo I decided to start cutting...I immediately realized that it was going to take a crap load of squares and I had no where near enough fabric in my stash to chose from. So being that I work at a fabric store I started collecting scraps...and lots of scraps lol. I then joined a postage stamp square swap and did alot of personal swapping to have enough squares. I sorted by colors in bags and just organized them as they came in. It sat in my closet for a looong time and at one point I thought of giving up because I didn't realize how much work was involved in JUST collecting fabric and cutting. Until one day I cleaned out my craft closet and decided to sew a block (blue) it turned out horrible...really bad...seriously. I didn't pin, and I didn't care at that point because I had no idea how to. So I informed my (soon to be) mom-in-law and she gave me a pin lesson. I then started on another block and it turned out sooo awesome! I figured out a chain sewing method that made the blocks start coming faster! I had a goal of sewing one block per week, but I was so addicted to it by then that I sewed about 2/3 per week! Before I knew it I had finished it! hurray! I know that I will most likely never do one again, but at least I can cross it off my quilt list. :) Anyways here it is!!!!

As my quilting projects slowly wind down to an end for my family/friends I think about all my future quilting/sewing projects AND I figure I can sell them! So my very talented, creative, adorable and design gifted friend Calee offered to help me "pimp" out my etsy store ha! She designed several etsy banners, business cards, and profile pics! How wonderful!! Over the next few months I plan of making all kinds of stuff including...bags, dog accessories, quilts, fabric, ipod holders, tampon wallets ect. The sky is the limit! I love sewing so why not try to make some money of doing it!? Right?! This gives me a real excuse to buy more fabric!!! YIPPIE! Quilting Progress

Tonite was the grand opening of Brock's dads new bar, we went for a couple hours but had to be home at a decent time because I work bright and early! It is really nice inside though, he put in alot of work! :) There was a pretty big turn out for a wed. night. in a small town!

My friend calee is re-doing my etsy site for me, making me a banner, business cards ect. I am making her an ipod cover in return :) I hope to start making some more quilts, crafts to put on it, so I can start having some spending money for fabric and other goodies! :) I also bought myself a new digital camera tonight on amazon because my old one finally crapped out on me! ugh. Thanks to my friend magan I have more fabric coming my way! lol. Due to our similarities with fabric we were able to split several bundles! It cuts down on costs too! We got three bundles including neptune, soiree, and twiggy...

Oh I love them all! I can't wait for the others to come out that I listed on my previous blog. I am def. buying those also. I spent my of the the weekend work on my hello betty quilt...I had a honey bun that I was working with and doing some log cabin blocks. I did 10'' blocks, but bad news is that I ran out of fabric, so I am buying another honey bun. I was also working on another quilt, its got teals, reds, greens...its really pretty. I am doing a larger log cabin block with stripes of fabric randomly placed. When I finish both I will post them. I also am going to start on a moose wall hanging for my dad. I made him a duck quilt a while back and decided its time for something else. I have an Idea in my head of what I want to do. I hope to get a few quilts back from the quilters this week so I will have a bunch of projects to post!! :) stay tuned!!!!!!!!

Last night I went crazy and organized my little crafting closet. I did alot of work and sorted out all my fabrics by colors, then I put in a small bookshelf and put some of my quilting tools, notions in the baskets. It turned out pretty neat! :) I can see what I have in my crafting closet now! yay for that! Anyways, back to quilting now!!

Stash Building...

As the economy slowly fails, I am doing my part as an American to keep the fabric stores in business. That is my excuse to buy more fabric. Most people are taking from their stashs but not this qirl. As much fabric as I have been buying lately I am going to need more room for it! Anyways, I went on fabricworm.com which I love and placed another order...I got a bunch of goodies! here are a couple....

I just love collecting cute fabric prints, and checking whats new. I also am loving this new fabric line called neptune. I've been looking at it alot lately because well its new, but mostly because its by tula pink and I love her! I think me and freestyle might go in halfsy on the fat quarter bundle of 34 peices...makes me feel like im not spending a TON of money on it.

Ode To Mcgruff & Kitty

I was talking with a friend and realized that mcgruff is almost 1 1/2 so I had to do a post dedicated to him!! Plus I thought I would throw in a few of the kitty!! :) She too is a great kit kat. haha. Enjoy the pictures :) He weighed only 1.2 pounds when he was a puppy!

Thought I would post the kitty now...her when she was a cute little thing, and now after she had made her first kill! She is such a great addition to this family! :)

Robot Fabric Rocks

I need a new camera, my flash really sucks, and I hate how all my pictures look dull. Hopefully this Christmas I will get a new one! Maybe this stimulus check can go toward a new camera! I made this robot I pod touch cover for Brock (the fiance) I just love robots, and he loved it too!

My next venture is to make a tampon wallet (sorry guys I had to say it) I hope to try it out this weekend. I bought fabric from fabric.com from august fields collection. I just LOVE it. I am doing a personal swap on craftster with Magan aka Freestyle. I promised her a "wallet" also! She is making me a "regular" wallet and zune cover, headband ect.

My Quilt Projects

I am WAY ahead of the schedule on this one. Seriously. I decided to Make all my friends and family quilts for this next Christmas, well because home-made presents are better :) So I started on this venture last month and had a huge list. With the help of craftster lap quilt swap that takes care of two of them. Here is my list:

1.) Hello Betty Honey bun (not sure on the pattern yet for this one)

2.) Wood Charms Quilt for Dad (couldn't find a pic)

Home For the Holidays

Traveled 6 hours to my dads this week! whoa was that a drive! I have been off of work since Tuesday and enjoying the break! I tried to drive up to Iowa that day but the weather has been so bad! Finally got a break and drove up. Had a great xmas with lots of presents and family. My pup mcgruff had a great xmas too...I think he got more presents than I got! lol. I am heading home this sunday and can't wait to see the bf again! He didnt come because he had to work friday and I wanted to leave early since I had extra days off! We are doing our xmas when I get home! Can't wait to see what he got me! Well I hope everyone had a great holiday and was very safe! Merry xmas!

My first blog!

This weekend was a busy one again, since the holidays are getting closer and closer we have more things to do every weekend and my quilting time gets less and less...

Next weekend I have xmas at my dads, after wards my sister will be coming back with me for a week to hang out at my apt. Should be interesting. Anyways it is like 5:30am and I have to get ready for work at 6! :P So excited for this blog! I can post pictures of my updated quilts, quilt blocks, and life in general! :)
